Mouthpiece and Hoses

Mouthpiece

The rebreather mouthpieceThe mouthpiece has been designed for maximum ease of use. The two top priorities in the design criteria were ease of operation/use in water and minimal breathing resistance.
This has been achieved by the following features:

  1. Ergonomic design
  2. A tough teat you can bite
  3. A closing lever that can be operated easily with gloves on
  4. Articulation of hose connections
  5. Careful selection of materials for strength, durability and thermal retention while remaining light in weight
  6. Large soft seating mushroom valves for minimal flow restriction
  7. Large cross-section 'O' rings for positive sealing, smooth movement and long life

Hoses

Hoses on the rebreatherThe ergonomic aspect has been achieved by using a plastic type hose that can be cut to length to suit differing body torsos. Correctly tailored this will give the optimum profile of breathing hose whilst in water, negating the need for a weight system on the hose itself. The hose is a smooth wide bore flexible hose, that reduces breathing cycle resistance to a minimum, and is reasonably crush resistant in comparison with most contemporary twin hose rubber products. Hose termination and sealing is achieved by a unique system of hose, former, gland and compression fitting. Breathing hose connection is simplified by the standard use of 40mm apertures, for both straight and elbow connections. We have also incorporated the provision for flow control and fine particle filtration into the hose coupling design.
